Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Is massage painful?
What is you cancellation policy?
Prior to your initial appointment you will be emailed a health history form, during your appointment your therapist will discuss this with you and go over any additional concerns or treatment goals. Once you've agreed to a treatment plan, your RMT will leave the room to allow you to get comfortable on the table. They will knock on the door before coming back in, and then the massage will start. At the end, the RMT will leave the room to allow you to get dressed, and then if needed homecare advice will be given.
Massage can cause some muscle soreness, especially if you are already dealing with muscle pain or injuries. During the treatment some discomfort is normal, but it should always be at a manageable level for you, and your therapist will check in to make sure you're comfortable. Some people experience muscle soreness after the massage, but this is normal and typically only lasts 1-2 days.
We have a 24 hour cancellation policy, but as much notice as possible is appreciated. If your cancellation is within 24 hours of your appointment time, there will be a charge of 50% of the appointment cost to the card on file. If there are repeated cancelations with less than 24 hours notice a charge of the total cost of the appointment will be charged to the card on file. Cancellations with no notice will be subject to 100% of the appointment cost
Do you do direct billing?
Can my child receive massage therapy?
Yes! We offer direct billing to most insurance plans, including Pacific Blue Cross, Green Shield, Sunlife, Canada life, Manulife, and more. Typical plans cover a percentage of the treatment cost. We accept Visa, Debit, or Mastercard as well. At this time we do not bill to ICBC or WCB.
Yes! Kids of all ages can benefit from massage, and some common reasons kids come for treatment is if they are active in sports, if they experience headaches, or just for muscle aches and pains! Infants can also receive massage therapy to decrease muscle tension, for torticollis or a head turning preference. Most of the time we recommend that the parent stays with the child during the massage, depending on their age and comfort level.
Do you accept tips?
As a regulated health care profession, we are not able to accept tips. If you are wanting to show your appreciation for your treatment, a google review or a referral to someone you know is much appreciated!
